Nokia has announced an insurance scheme for mobile handsets, few days back on 12th March in New Delhi. Nokia is going to start this scheme in partnership with insurance firm New India Assurance. The plan will be available on purchase of new Nokia devices purchased through Nokia branded retail stores only. Initially the scheme has been launched in 10 cities of the country, Delhi and NCR, Jaipur, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Cochin.
The customer have to pay a premium of Rs 50 or 1.25 percent of mobile phone cost, whichever is more, at the time of purchase. The scheme includes mobile phone lost due to thefts, burglary, malicious acts, riots, theft from locked building or any act of violence. The customer cannot get any claim if the device is lost overseas or if he forgets it somewhere. To avail this offer, customer is required to make police complaint and to inform its service provider and furnish acknowledgement to the insurance company. Claim should be approached within 48 hours of the loss.
